What Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) Teach Us About Life and Death

In this presentation, Evelyn Elsaesser-Valarino looks at three major aspects of the Near-Death Experience:

  • The survivors of NDEs view life reviews in three dimensions, and they come to understand how their actions and thoughts have affected other persons involved. They gain a holistic understanding of the impact of their deeds by reliving the events not only from their own perspectives but also from those of the persons involved. The life review is highly transformative and pedagogic because it confronts us with our intrinsic responsibility towards our fellow human beings;
  • After-effects of NDEs provoke massive and fundamental questioning of values and objectives, as well as the way one lives one’s life. These concern one’s own conception of life and death, and of self-conception, as well as on social and material issues, bring about personality changes;
  • These “Lessons from the Light” trigger a profound change in attitudes and belief systems, via encounters with the “Being of Light”, and thus deepen their understanding of this transpersonal experience

Evelyn Elsaesser-Valarino has devoted much of her time to research on Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) and its after-effects, and has authored several books and articles on the topic. She is the European coordinator of IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies).
